We go to Redondo Beach for the filming of the AFV, and it is the $100,000 show... the best of the best home videos, and the winner of the $100,000 will be selected from the previous shows $10,000 winners... And having seen the AFV show on Singapore TV, it is interesting to see the making of the show. So, after getting the free tickets (yap, tickets are free!!) for today's show, we drive to Redondo Beach early, since seatings starts 530pm for 830pm screening, and it's first-come-first-serve... Worse off, it's raining heavily, and we don't want to wet our nice attire. Required to dress formally, since international audience are watching the show... Luckily we are able to find the studio and drive in to the studio parking structure... and the stuff arrange for transport to bring the audience to the actual set. Even before going into the set, have to go through metal detector and check our bags for camera, or any recording device... All not allowed. So no photos to post here...
We got quite a good seat, along the aisle, and the host, Tom will be using the aisle. So good chance we will be caught on TV :)
As the show starts, interesting to see how the show in US are filmed. Tom reading off the prepared script off the screen. And the emcee trying to keep the audience pumped up and smiling. Also the crew just keep switching people around, so the best looking smiles are caught on camera. Lucky for us, Winnie has a wonderful smile, so we don't have to move.
Filming is quite successful, just 1-2 NG, and by 10pm, the filming is done. Winner of the $100,000 is declared, and confetti is sprayed everywhere... They have a post-filming best-dressed male and female audience competition by the applause, but basically it is a test of how many people you have in the audience... Anyway, rain has stopped by then, so we drive home with a good memory.
The show will be aired on TV on 9 Mar, so we will be watching for our TV appearance... haha
