Raining season is here, and with it, winter is finally here. There is the fear of no winter this year, as no rain is falling till now. The rain is refreshing, and it provides some cool and wet feeling to the otherwise dry weather... Even doggie dog is enjoying the rain :)

The wings are good, I think among one of the better ones that I have eaten.

San Gabriel

Brownie & Winnie says:

San Gabriel has one of the highest concentration of Chinese in the LA region. Lots of taiwanese, hongkongers, and mainland chinese. Got chinese food and supermarket, so we are going today to explore and check it out :)

As we drive onto Valley Blvd, we see chinese signs everywhere... lots of chinese businesses.

But we have a target in mind, Ajisan... And it is easy to find, inside a shopping mall, just besides Hilton... We order ramen, of course, and the menu is pretty similar to Singapore one, just less choice to choose from. But the standard ones all there... and we get a katsu curry and a vegetable ramen... Good!!




And we also find that Jay is coming to San Gabriel to publicize his concert in LA...

Snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain - Day 4

Winnie & Brownie says:

After 2 days of intense exercise, our bodies are sore, and ready to give up... Luckily today is going home time, and no snowboarding... So we wake up early and walk around the neighborhood, since this may be the last time we see Mammoth. At least now we know who's the owner of the house...


Nice scenery if you stay here, you see snow the moment you wake up.

After lunch, it is time to go home, as it is another 6 hours drive back to LA... But snowboarding is fun, we will definitely try again :)

Snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain - Day 3

Winnie & Brownie says:

We get our lift-tickets for the ski-lift up to the slopes. Since we already know roughly how to snowboard yesterday, we look ready to really snowboard down the slopes... Just hope don't fall down too many times.

Snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain - Day 2

Brownie & Winnie says:

Day 2 - we are going snowboarding today, so wake up early to prepare and get dress... Layers and layers of clothes to keep warm while snowboarding. First time snowboarding so excited man...

After parking the cars, which is a long way from the resort, as there are so many early birds already parked their cars... we carry the snowboards and board the free shuttle to the resort. Below are photos of the resort.

Since this is our first time, we get a lesson package from the professional, to learn the proper way to snowboard... And man, our butts hurt from all the falls.


Lunch is a good break, and a reward for the hard work put in... Our body is cold, butt is bruised, knee is shaking and nose is runny.

More of our individual training in the afternoon, to master the left-turn, right-turn and braking. So we don't fall and roll down the slopes... haha



I think we can hit the slopes tomorrow, to officially snowboard :)

Snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain - Day 1

Winnie & Brownie says:

This is Thanksgiving Weekend, and instead of squeezing with people in the shopping malls trying to get great deals for the already crazy Thanksgiving sale, we will be going to Mammoth Mountain for snowboarding... Yap, a good 6 hours drive from LA, tucked in the central valley area of California. But it is the start of winter, and snow is all about winter... Also, SSA is organizing this and they will be driving us to Mammoth. Will be a good introduction of roadtrips to Brownie, so we can start our own roadtrips :)

Because we leave LA at noon time, so we only reach Mammoth around dinner-time, and have a wonderful time having pizzas at a local famous pizza restaurant. After dinner, we go to the nearby Rons for groceries and turkey. Thanksgiving is also about eating turkey, yum-yum :) And to get our snowboards and boots, so that tomorrow can dash for the slopes...

The house we get is a two storey house, with a car garage, 4 comfortable rooms, a big living/dining area and well-equipped kitchen. Take a lot of photos and video, so can see for yourself...

That is the end of day 1. Tomorrow we will have actions from the snow-slopes :)

Foggy LA

Brownie & Winnie says:

Today is a cold day, a low pressure system is coming towards LA and weather forecast is for cooler days in the coming few days... Winter is coming, can feel it in the air. And we also too cold to go out to eat, so eat at home.


Even doggie-dog is lethargic, doesn't want to move... Going into hibernation mode :)

Indeed, everywhere is cold and foggy. We drive around our neighborhood during midnight to see the foggy LA, and below are photos of the big fog.
