Dam the Beaver Homecoming Parade & Halloween

Brownie & Winnie says:

Today is USC homecoming parade and this year's theme is "Dam the Beaver"!! This is most appropriate especially after USC has lost some critical football matches and really needs to dam the beaver and losses... But we have the strongest team this year, so to turn the table is not a problem :) The parade is held at Tommy Trojan ground, and Winnie is happy posing pictures with Tommy (below).

The beautiful USC songbirds...

Today is also Halloween night and everywhere is Halloween mood...
McDonald,

around the neighbour...

And we will be going to a Haunted House as extras... More specifically, to become terrors of Halloween and help in the scaring of kids who dare to walk into the house. The house is a few blocks from ours, and it is quite common for them to decorate their house and backyard with all kinds of scary and spooky horror stuffs and turn the house into a spooky walk for a night. Add in some lighting, spooky music and fog effects, and together with the extras dressing up as Jason, Freddy, Chucky, etc and we have everything ready for a good scare :) We even have Freddy holding a menacing chain saw with its loud cutting sound (without the chain blades, of course). We have around 15 ghosts, all dressed up in Halloween costumes and covered in blood (using ketchup)... Of course, we are all hiding around the corner or other inconspicuous place, to give the visitor a real good scare... heehee. Brownie is in some scary outfit (don't know the name of the character, if it has a name!!), while Winnie is "Sadako" in "The Ring"... This looks like a mini Knotts Berry haunted maze... BooHooHoo, Happy Halloween :)

Santa Monica Pier

Brownie and Winnie says:

Today is another fine though very windy day. We plan to go to Santa Monica Pier for a walk. We reach there in about forty minutes time via car... Santa Monica Pier is a very beautiful beach with its soft white sand.

Before reaching the beach, we cross a long overhead bridge. Then we walk past a row of houses that are built by the beach. They look very beautiful, like two storey houses built in a ancient Victorian vintage style.

We find a bench seat along a row of palm trees overlooking the beach scenery... Following that we begin to enjoy our sumptuous home-made lunch: fried belacan shrimps sandwiches. While we eat the lunch, a few people walk past us with some of them walking or jogging with their dogs. It is a very relaxing scene with the beautiful beach ahead. And it is very windy too.

After our lunch, we start to take a walk along the wooden fence overlooking the beach. Nice view from top of the cliff...
We happen to pass by a low-lying tree with one of its branches drooping onto the ground as shown below. It is a spectacular sight, hence we have a japanese couple help us take a photograph.
We see an imitation canon, which is once used during a war. Hence i take a photo of Brownie with the canon.
This photo is taken atop an overhead bridge that leads to the Santa Monica beach. It has wire barb fence surrounding the two sides of the bridge that is taller than two adult human beings placed on top of each other.
This photo is taken along the beach where it lies the row of houses as described in previous paragraphs.

The white seagulls together with the ducks along the beach as shown above...

A whole row of volleyball courts in the center of the beach as shown below... Nobody playing today cos now is winter, too cold to wear bikini.

Our footsteps imprinted on top of the beach...

Too tired to run anymore... the birds are just too fast

Little Tokyo

Brownie says:

Today is sunday, no need to study, so went to Little Tokyo at downtown. Always went past Little Tokyo as we board the Dash bus to Chinatown, but never get off to explore the place... So today, we drive there to look around.

After parking opposite Little Tokyo SC, we just walk without any goal in mind... Saw Honda Plaza, and many other japanese restaurants, and a lot of japanese seniors. But nothing much to see except to eat japanese food. Little Tokyo is a pretty small place, with concentration of Japanese food and grocery. Higashi Honganji buddhist temple is at the heart of Little Tokyo, so quiet that we don't dare to go in and disturb the peace...

So we went to Little Tokyo SC, and had our sushi lunch inside, and bought some japanese snacks and groceries... And that is the Little Tokyo adventure.
