Brownie's birthday (Thursday 13th September 2007)

Winnie says:

Today is a very special day as it is Brownie's birthday. Today is also 13th September 2007, thirty years from the day Brownie is born. He is also my hubby.

In the morning, after our breakfast, we prepare to set out for school, as Brownie has lessons from eight to nine in the morning. After his lesson, we go to Chanos, which is a fast-food cafe nearby the USC, to have our lunch. It is a popular fast-food cafe as its food is deliciously prepared and is very special. I wonder, have you ever heard of "burritos" before? Burritos is a kind of Mexican food like the crepe burger sold in Taco Bells, where its outer skin is like that of a crepe and within contains a lot of food varieties like meat flavourings, pieces of green and red peppers, and so on. It is very fulfilling and delicious too. Brownie orders an Asada burritos while I order an original hamburger set meal with a regular fries and a regular drink to your liking. I order a Root Beer. Then we sit down at a bench allocated near the outlet and enjoy our meals. Chanos is an outdoor cafe.

After our lunch, we head back to school as Brownie still has lessons from eleven in the morning till three-thirty p.m. Hence I stay in the Leavey Library within USC and use the laptop to surf net and emails as well as read up on California's map and eateries and places of interest.

In the blink of an eye, three-thirty p.m. is approaching and Brownie is already behind me on the second floor of Leavey Library. Together, we help to pack up our things and head towards the University Village.

Upon reaching there, we head towards the "Superior" supermart which is a big supermarket selling all kinds of food varieties. As today is Brownie's birthday, we intend to buy a cake to celebrate this very special occasion. As we enter the supermarket, we are welcome by a wide variety of food supplies. Then we head towards the cake section. There are a lot of cake varieties, namely the fruit cakes, the chocolate cakes, strawberry cakes, etc. We decide to buy a small chocolate cake as we cannot finish a big cake by ourselves.

Upon reaching home, we indulge ourselves in the richness of the cake. This is followed by our dinner of udon as shown in the picture below. As the ancient Chinese believe, eating long noodles, namely the "Chang Shou Mian" during someone's birthday is a way of wishing him longevity. Though udon is not the actual "mian" that I have just mentioned, however since it is also a kind of noodle, it does have its significance too in the above ancient Chinese saying.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Brownie, happy birthday to you!! Chucks!!
