Orientation week starts on the Monday (20 Aug) till Friday...
Monday; me and Winnie get to the Bovard Auditorium for a welcome speech by the dean... Anyway, it is the normal welcome stuff, so nothing much to talk about here. Just that we are now officially in the Trojans family... Then I have to go for my small group discussion with fellow graduate students, while Winnie have to attend the parents/family orientation section. So we have to kiss each other Goodbye... for now.
I get to know an Indian guy from Bombay. His name is Rahul (I didn't know that son of Buddha is called Rahul). He is a nice fellow, helpful, and will also be attending EE450. There are alot of India Indians and China Chinese going into Engineering. My school life is not going to be so smooth with so many smart pp around...
Brownie and Winnie soon meet up and after attending orientation sessions on "Life in LA", and "Campus Services", decide that time is better used if we don't attend such sessions. Since we already know these... So we just walk around the campus, taking photos of the many things happening on campus, since it's orientation week...

USC is the 3-time college football champion in USA. And being Trojan warriors, the motto is "Fight On", never give up. Everyone is very proud of the tradition, from the teachers down to the students community. Even I am influence by the atmosphere... FIGHT ON!!
On the sport field, a group of ~300 students are gathered to train as half-time pom-pom for the opening home match on 1 Sep at the nearby LA sports coliseum, stone-throw from where we live... Looking at how they train, I remember my BMT days, where the PTI punish the lazy recruits by asking them to run lampposts 2353535. But at USC, the lazy guys/gals who don't live up to the drill expectation are asked to run around the group, with their equipment!! And they are training since morning non-stop... Such is the high expectation and fever for American football...
