Our 1st US homecook food - Udon

Winnie says:

It is a Monday night, so-called blue Monday, for those who are working or studying, I assume? Especially after we come back from orientation, so hot... As we have bought lots of foods and groceries from the Chinatown the day before, Brownie takes two packets of udon out of the fridge and sets out to prepare them for our dinner. Udons are thick sized tube-like noodles which Japanese always enjoy eating in soup form. You can almost add any seasoning or dishes to it, to your delights. We enjoy cooking together though at times, there will be some disagreements here and there...

Firstly, Brownie takes out the cooking pot, rinses it and fills it with half-full of water from the tap. Then, he starts the fire on the stove and places the pot of water on it to boil. Subsequently, he sets to cut open the packets of udon, takes the crab meats as well as the oyster mushrooms out of the freezer onto plates with cold water for them to thaw. At the same time he also takes out a bottle of chicken stock soup seasoning so as to add a delicious flavour to the udons.

Oops, the water starts to boil, better add all the dishes and the seasoning to it to prevent overboiling of the water. After some time of stirring, the udons look ready for consumption. Then Brownie turns off the fire on the stove and ladles the udons into two bowls. Ooh, yummy... Oh yes, please refer to the picture below for a sample of our home-cooked udons...
